Entry requirements
This course covers practical skills and relevant background knowledge. Students are normally aged 16 or over and the following qualifications are needed:
- 2 GCSEs at Grade D (3) or equivalent, one must be English Language.
Learning and assessment
This course provides you with a comprehensive introduction to public services. It is extremely popular with school leavers who wish to combine a practical based training programme with sound theoretical knowledge. The course is designed to give you a broad understanding of public services, with a view to progressing to one of our Level 3 Diploma courses, or to start work in the Public Service sector.
Assessments will include assignments and practical work. There are no formal external examinations on the Level 2 Diploma.
Progression
- Level 2 students can progress to level 3 programmes subject to published entry requirements and satisfactory performance at level 2.

Learners will be required to wear college uniform
Costs that are mandatory for the course:
College T-shirt, tracksuit bottoms and tracksuit top or hooded top– approx. £85
Costs that are optional for the course:
Public Services textbook approx. £20
Walking shoes approx. £30-100+ (depending on quality and brand)
Outdoor Clothing approx. £50-£150+ (depending on quality and brand)
