About the course

Brief Description of the Course:

The qualification is designed for learners looking for a career in the floristry industry or further developing creative skills and qualifications in this vocational area.

This unit provides the practical skills and knowledge needed to make simple free standing contemporary floral designs. The unit aims to develop basic practical skills using a range of materials in the planning, preparation, construction and presentation of the finished free standing contemporary floral designs.

Entry Requirements:

This course covers practical skills and relevant background knowledge. Students aged 16 or over and the following qualifications are needed: a minimum of 2 GCSEs at Grade D or above to include English Language or equivalent qualifications For 19+ there are no formal entry requirements necessary, all that you need is a passion and creative flare for working with plant material and flowers, to learn new skills to develop yourself.

List of Units: covered within 7144-01 Floristry (N.B - You may choose to study any, or all units listed during the academic calendar. Each individual successfully assessed complete module will achieve an Award qualification).

· Award in Floral Design (Contemporary Flower Arrangement - Table Decor) (Term 1- 6th September 2022- 25th November 2022)

· Award in Floral Design (Contemporary Flower Arrangement - Free Standing) (Term 2- 3rd January 2023- 21st March 2023)

· Award in Floral Design (Traditional Flower Arrangement - Table Decor) (Term 3- 17th April 2023 - 26th June 2023)

Learning and Assessment:

The learning will be supported using are online learning environment, recorded practical demonstrations and tutor support. There is one assignment per unit. Which are designed to sample the practical skills and underpinning knowledge.

Special Requirements:

Costs that are mandatory for the course:

¨ Stationery e.g. presentation files, etc. approx. £15

¨ Plant materials – flowers & foliage to create advanced designs approx. £15 per practical session

¨ Floristry Toolbox, to include a range of tools and ancillary items for use with approx. £50

¨ Protective Apron approx. £20

¨ Access to a computer or laptop

¨ wish to develop Creative floristry skills

¨ are looking for progression towards further or higher education.

Progression:

There is scope to progress onto our Level 2 Award/Certificate/Diploma or apprenticeship route.
