Learning and assessment
These qualifications are assessed by examination. Myerscough sets the exam dates based on student progress. There is one maths exam. English has three elements:
Reading online test
Writing online test
Speaking and Listening - internal assessment.
Students require pens, paper, files and a calculator. Access to an internet enabled computer outside of lesson time is essential.
Progression
Year 10 students who successfully achieve this qualification may if appropriate move onto the GCSE provision for year 11 or a higher level functional skill. Students must undertake both courses they cannot select either English or Maths. This qualification is recognised by post 16 providers so can be used when applying for full time courses/apprenticeships.
Special requirements
Students must be Home Educated and 14 before August 31st of their start year. Students must be prepared to complete additional study outside of their lesson time. Entry onto this programme can either be alongside a vocational application or as standalone qualification.
STUDENTS SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION FOR A VOCATIONAL PROGRAMME WHO ALSO WISH TO STUDY ENGLISH AND MATHS DO NOT NEED TO SUBMIT A SEPERATE ENGLISH AND MATHS APPLICATION. THERE IS A BOX ON THE APPLICATION FORM PART B WHICH ALLOWS VOCATIONAL APPLICATIONS TO INDICATE AN INTEREST IN THIS PROGRAMME.
