An appearance from award winning comedian, Edy Hurst, was among the highlights of Myerscough College’s Comic Relief fundraising.

A range of activities was organised by the Myerscough Student Union, with the funnyman bringing his musical comedy and stand up to Myerscough for a special gig at the College’s Bilsborrow campus.

The week of fundraising began with a fiercely competitive Staff vs Students Tug of War competition, before a student baking session, making cakes that were then sold in the Student Hub on campus the following day.

Other activities included a fun Photo Booth, where staff and students could dress up and use props to take funny pictures, while a four-hour cycle-athon had staff and students digging deep for the collection buckets.

A comedy show, along with an open mic night and barbeque, featuring a headline set from comedian Edy Hurst, proved very popular, while on ‘Red Nose Day’ itself the MSU co-ordinated further activities including dressing in red and face painting.

Dominic Jolly is Myerscough College’s Student Enrichment Officer and said: ‘’Thanks to all staff and students who took part in our Comic Relief fundraising activities. We’ve raised a fantastic amount for a great cause.

‘’A huge thank you also goes to Edy Hurst for joining us to headline our comedy night. He was hilarious and went down really well with our crowd. It was great that someone of Edy’s calibre was happy to support our fundraising.’’
