About the course

Introduction:

This course is designed for existing farm workers who want additional relevant training, employees requiring proof of staff training/CPD and anyone involved in the day-to-day care of dairy cattle. This course will keep you up to date with relevant topics, changing advice and best practice.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no entry requirements but being familiar with dairy cow vet routines will be an advantage.

How long is the course?

10am-3pm

What will the course involve?

This course is a vet-led course which involves both theory and practical elements. There will be a classroom-based session followed by a practical afternoon of fertility examinations.

How long will I be learning?

The session is a single day course which is timed to allow you to fit into a working day around milking.

What equipment will I need?

Bring fully cleaned and disinfected waterproofs and wellies for the practical

What can I expect to learn from this course?

How to manipulate the cow oestrus cycle, cow reproductive anatomy, how to reduce losses due to infertility, get the most out of your routine fertility visit, how to do post calving checks and fresh cow examinations.
