Myerscough College students have taken part in the 2025 Lancashire Colleges’ Skills Competition Programme.

The students enjoyed testing themselves against teams from across the area and showcasing their skills to employers.
Competitors included students from all of Lancashire’s Further Education and Sixth Form Colleges including those studying as part of the Lancashire and Cumbria Institute of Technology. This year’s sponsors were the Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub and NOCN Group.
Students on technical and vocational courses competed individually and in teams across a range of challenges.
Myerscough foundation learners Jacob Windle, Adam Clarke and Stephen Bonney came second in their round. They had to create a presentation in their ideas of how to increase recycling in their college and had to present this to a panel of judges.
All three worked hard and were judged on areas including teamwork, original ideas and presentation skills.
In another area of the competition, three motorsport students – Kai Barlow, Nathaniel West and Connor Hunter - also achieved an outstanding second place overall in the competition, coming home with great achievements.
The Lancashire Colleges’ Skills Competition Programme objectives are to:
- Provide Lancashire students with the opportunity to showcase the technical skills they have learnt across a number of specialisms.
- Provide not only an opportunity to develop technical excellence for our students, but also personal attributes such as teamwork and resilience, as well as employability skills.
- Increase the number of Lancashire students who apply for further skills competitions, for example World Skills UK.
- Raise awareness of career pathways.
- Work with Lancashire based employers though the project, to enable them to promote their business to the pipeline workforce of the future.
