National conference highlights equine degree research

Published
Friday 9 May

Myerscough attended the annual Alltech-Hartpury Conference this week.

Untitled Design (12)

The conference is aimed at Higher Education (degree level) students, providing an opportunity to experience writing and submitting research, going through the review and revisions process, through to delivering a theatre presentation to a full conference audience or producing a scientific poster to present.

The event allows students to present primarily to other students. Student and staff delegates representing colleges and universities from the UK, present oral and poster presentations covering a vast range of topics, and in addition, a range of keynote speakers from both a scientific and industry background offer their experience, and guidance.

This year Abi Birch, a BSc (Hons) Equine Science undergraduate, delivered her poster presentation, entitled ‘Body image in equestrians – Reluctant fluctuations in body image among equestrians and the subsequent impact on their enjoyment’.

Myerscough HE equine lecturer Leah Crook said: ‘’The day was full of interesting presentations from graduates and keynote speakers, and a poster session where Abi and other students presented their final research projects.

‘’The conference is an excellent opportunity for equine graduates to experience a conference environment with other like-minded people. Thank you to the conference team for all your hard work in organising this fantastic event!’’

Congratulations to Abi for superbly showcasing her hard work.
