Worldksills Landscaping 2022

This collaboration aims to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in the landscaping industry by providing comprehensive training and hands-on experience.

The Myerscough College and APL Landscaping Apprenticeship is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to excel in various landscaping roles. The programme combines classroom-based learning with practical, on-the-job training, ensuring that apprentices gain a well-rounded understanding of the industry.

This year’s programme starts in December 2024, and we are now seeking applications from suitable candidates with employers across the country.

Key features of the apprenticeship:

Block training: Seven weeks ‘bootcamp’ style technical block training weeks at Myerscough’s main campus near Preston, spread across the two-year programme.

Industry-recognised qualification: Apprentices will work towards a nationally recognized qualification, enhancing their employability and career prospects.

Expert instruction: Courses will be taught by experienced professionals from Myerscough College and APL/The Landscape Academy, providing apprentices with valuable insights and mentorship.

Hands-on experience: Apprentices will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects, gaining practical experience in areas such as garden design, planting, and maintenance.

Career support: The programme includes career guidance and support, helping apprentices to secure employment in the landscaping industry upon completion.

WorldSkills: Learners are given the opportunity to participate in national skills competitions in Landscaping.

“We are thrilled to partner with APL to offer yet another intake of this innovative apprenticeship programme,” said Lee Price, Employer Services Manager at Myerscough College.

“This collaboration provides apprentices with the skills and experience they need to succeed in the landscaping industry. It also gives employers the chance to retain and upskill employees to the latest techniques and industry standards.’’
