Myerscough rated top land-based college in country for apprenticeships in latest figures

Myerscough College has been recognised as the leading land-based college in the country within the 500+ cohort, according to the latest official figures for apprenticeship achievement.

For many years, Myerscough has been the go-to provider of choice for hundreds of businesses across the land-based sector. Now, the Government accredited official statistics for the 2023/24 year, show extremely high levels of apprenticeship achievement, according to data that was released at the end of March.

Myerscough College is one of the biggest apprenticeship providers in the land-based sector, and for the purposes of the statistics, is classed as a ‘Large Provider’. In this category, Myerscough is the top performing specialist land-based college in the country.

In addition, Myerscough comes out as the top performing college in the whole of the North West, including across Lancashire and Cumbria, regarding apprenticeships undertaken by people of all ages.

The figures continue to be impressive when Qualification Achievement Rates (QAR) tables for apprenticeship Standards are analysed in more detail.

Myerscough is ranked number one in the country for farriery apprenticeships, with a 100% pass rate, a huge 33.3% above the national average.

Myerscough is also number one for equine apprenticeship programmes, while out sector leading Level 5 (degree level equivalent) Golf Course Manager programme also boasts 100% achievement.

The College is ranked number one for a Level 3 Land-based Service Engineering Technician apprenticeship, again with a 100% pass rate, and almost 34% above the national average. Myerscough holds this position for a second consecutive year after topping the 2022/23 table for the same programme.

Myerscough College is constantly at the forefront of the use of technology across our range of apprenticeship provision.

Our e-portfolio system gives the learner, employer and assessor real time access to training resources and performance indicators, as well as a dedicated online learning channel which includes videos, interactive learning packages, workbooks, referencing and background information and additional resources identified as appropriate during the initial apprenticeship assessment.

The system is cloud based and can be accessed from a range of devices including PC/laptop, tablets, and Android and Apple smartphones. There are also a range of apps to support learners in gathering evidence and to enhance and simplify the learning experience. Tutors also use other software to improve communication channels and enhance the learning experience.

Myerscough College’s established national work-based training model is co-ordinated through a network of regionally based work-based tutors with extensive industry experience in their specialist sectors. This gives the employer piece of mind that training and learning is being delivered by an expert who understands needs, pressures and unique requirements of the sector.
