Myerscough named among top turf influencers in the UK

A leading industry magazine has named a Myerscough College staff member and a current apprentice as being among the most influential bodies in the sportsturf sector.
Turf Business has revealed their shortlist for the 2024 Top Turf Influencer Award.
The award recognises the industry’s most influential figures who possess an outstanding level of knowledge, experience and skillset within their specific field of expertise.
Paul McGrail and Anna Nilsson are both on the 2024 shortlist.

Paul is Executive Director and Assistant Principal - Apprenticeships, Skills & Employer Engagement, and has been involved in the inception and development of sportsturf provision from the start at Myerscough, where sector-leading apprenticeships in the industry have been delivered for 25 years.

Meanwhile, Anna has been undertaking a sector leading Level 5 Golf Course Manager Standard apprenticeship with Myerscough, and is currently Deputy Head Greenkeeper of the Brabazon Golf Course at The Belfry.
Anna always strongly uses her position to encourage more women and girls to take up a role in turfcare, recently winning an accolade at the Women in Golf Awards.

Anna is an extremely talented greenkeeper whose Belfry course bears testament to her unwavering dedication, expertise and passion. She is also dedicated to inspiring future greenkeepers, coaching students and visiting schools to talk to children about working in the industry.
The shortlist is made up of individuals who create some of the best playing surfaces in the world of professional football, cricket, golf, rugby league and tennis, and organisations who make a real difference in supporting the development of the sportsturf sector in general.
Myerscough offers a wide range of sportsturf study opportunities, both in full time programmes at further and higher education level, and also through work-based apprenticeships, for learners both from the UK and overseas.
Learners go on to find employment at all levels, from assistant groundspersons and greenkeepers, to managers of international sports facilities such as Premier League football clubs and the major elite golf courses.
Myerscough College enjoys a fantastic reputation across the UK and Europe as one of the leading providers of sportsturf education.
