Landscape apprentices compete in WorldSkills national qualifier
Published: Wednesday 11 June 2025Last week, a group of our Myerscough landscape apprentices competed in the national qualifying heat of the WorldSkills competition.

WorldSkills is an organisation who work with employers, education and governments, using international best practice to raise standards in apprenticeships and technical education so more young people and employers succeed.
The students – Archie Matthews, Sam Foster, Louis Weatherley, Jonathan Stout and Kieran Ashby – are all on a Level 2 Horticulture Operative Apprenticeship Standard (APL) programme, and demonstrated their technical skills in aspects such as block paving, decking construction and plant knowledge.
The competition is run in partnership with the Association of Professional Landscapers (APL) – an accrediting body for the best in domestic landscaping – and supported by leading companies. The students had to complete tasks in timed sessions and were marked to exacting standards on the quality of their work and attention to detail.
The top scorers in the heats from across the country will go on to compete in the World Skills UK Landscape final in November, where one entrant will be crowned WSUK Landscape Champion 2025.
The National Finals are scheduled to take place in Wales during the week beginning 24 November, 2025.
We wish our learners all the very best for the rest of the competition and their careers.
