A group of football students from Myerscough College recently had the unique opportunity to visit St George’s Park, the prestigious home of England’s national football teams.

The visit was part of an experience where Myerscough students were given the chance to support coaches currently undertaking their UEFA A Licence qualifications.

The UEFA A Licence is the highest practical coaching award available, is one level below the UEFA Pro Licence, and allows holders to be head coaches of youth teams up to age 18, reserve teams (also known as 'B' teams) for top-flight clubs, and men's professional second-tier clubs.

During the day, Myerscough students were actively involved in training sessions led by some UEFA A Candidates, giving them a rare glimpse into elite-level football development.

The experience provided valuable insight into the coaching process at the highest level.

Lecturer Andy Eminson-Smith said: ‘’This visit is a testament to the college’s commitment to providing real-world opportunities and access to the heart of the football industry.

‘’Engaging with UEFA A Licence coaches not only enriched the students’ understanding of the game, but also inspired many to pursue advanced coaching pathways of their own.

‘’Myerscough College continues to strengthen its reputation as a leading institution for football education, bridging the gap between the classroom and the professional game.’’

As part of the trip students also had the opportunity to experience a tour of St George's facilities, participated in team building activities, and enjoyed a day at Alton towers before returning home.
