Equine degree students present research at national conference

University Centre Myerscough equine degree students attended the annual Alltech-Hartpury Conference this week.
The conference is aimed at Higher Education students, providing an opportunity to experience writing and submitting research, going through the review and revisions process, through to delivering a theatre presentation to a full conference audience or producing a scientific poster to present.
The event allows students to present primarily to other students. Student and staff delegates representing colleges and universities from the UK, present oral and poster presentations covering a vast range of topics, and in addition, a range of keynote speakers from both a scientific and industry background offer their experience, and guidance.
Three Myerscough students presented their research; MSc graduate Leah Crook presented orally, and Jemima Skelton and Chelsea Hammond presented posters.
Leah’s research is titled ‘The Influence of Unmounted Warm-Up Equestrian Coaching on Horse Rider position and Horse-Rider Synergy’, Chelsea’s asks the question ‘How does the perception of dominance impact equine training and management?’, while Jemima’s research looked at the issue of ‘The Effects of Tristan Tucker’s TRT Method on the Equus Caballus Stress Responses’.
